Emu Run!!! Our 2 day tour. Day 1 Kings Canyon - the way up.
It had only rained a few days earlier in the Red Centre - which causes floods and is really hard on those red sandy dirt roads - at a few places we fairly lucky to get through.
This was our little bus that we travelled on from Alice Springs to Kings Canyon. Our guide Jason warned us that the flies would be bad and encouraged us to purchase fly nets at one of our petrol stops along the way. They actually were too bad most of the time but when they were bad it was annoying so we were happy to have the nets. I thought it was great - since I had Addison on my back for about 31/2 of the 4 1/2 hour hike - when some of the foot paths were not so steady I didn't have to worry about swatting flies.
This was the infamous "Cardiac Hill" that we were warned about before they would accept us on the tour. As a seasoned BC hiker I didn't think it would be much to conquer even in the 34 degree heat. It wasn't bad at all with an extra 25 pound on my back! As you can see I'm not even last in the herd!
As you can see the views were absolutely amazing!!!
This was Chris' new friend!
